For customers that offer "contract storage" of barrels to other distilleries, Whiskey Systems allows you to create and maintain "ownership" of barrels that you receive. When you receive barrels for contract storage with an owner specified, those barrels can only be returned to the owner via TIB-out. The system will not allow you to dump, mix, bottle, or perform any other operations on "Owned" barrels received for contract storage.
Additionally, financial transactions are disabled for barrels received under contract storage - you have no ownership nor cost, so there is nothing to record, financially speaking.
To set up barrel ownership, you must first add the sending DSP to your system. For guidance on adding DSPs, see: DSPs/ Shipping Locations Setup (Read Time: 2 mins)
Once the DSP has been added, you can now define a New Owner:
Navigate to: Settings > Associations > Owner
Click the “+ Add New Owner” button:
- Add in the Owner Name (DSP Name)
- Attach the Associated DSP
- Add in Address Information (Optional)
- Click Submit
Once the Owner is added in the system, users will be able to attach the associated owner to barrels when Transferring barrels in bond or when Filling barrels.
