Whiskey Systems has a flexible set of functions for tracking consumption of raw materials. In the simplest case, neither inventory levels nor costs of materials are input into the system. If you choose this path, then you will not be able to utilize Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations, nor can you use lead time/reorder tools.
On the other hand, if you utilize the PO system and stay on top of your material costs and inventory levels, you can enjoy automatic COGS calculation of your intermediate batches as well as your finished/bottled goods. If you also define Lead Times and Min Qty (par value) for your Raw Materials, you can leverage Purchasing capabilities that will help you stay on top of your supply needs.
Whiskey Systems tracks material consumption for cooks/mash bills, distillations, botanical additions, barrels for barrel fills, recipe ingredients for batching, filtration, product master and mixed product master packaging, raw material conversions, and raw material assembly.
Important: For the system to consume inventory quantities and record accurate costs, all raw materials need to be setup in the system, and they must have positive inventory quantities AND a value per unit.
Here's how to review the systemwide consumption of Raw Materials:
Navigate to: Menu > Raw Materials > Logs > Consumption Log.
» For guidance on manually adding Raw Material consumptions after the fact, review the following resource: Create a Consumption Run
