Whiskey Systems users will add their non-spirituous inventory items to the system as Raw Materials. Examples of non-spirituous Raw Material inventory would be Fermentables, Packaging, Blending Ingredients; any item used in your Distillery to manufacture a beverage spirit product should be built as a Raw Material in Whiskey Systems.
To build a new Raw Material:
Navigate to Settings > Definitions > Raw Materials
Click the “+Add New Raw Material” button

On the Create Raw Material form, provide the following:
- Material Class: Select the appropriate Material Class from the drop-down menu.
- Fermentable should be selected for any Raw Material such as Corn, Grain or Fruit to ensure accurate Federal Reporting in Production Part VI.
- Review Raw Material Class Definitions for assistance selecting the correct Material Class, or click the Blue Question Mark icon under the Material Class list:

- Name: Enter a Name for the new Raw Material. Examples: Corn, Juniper Berries, New American Oak, etc.
- Description: Optional; include any additional information that you'd like to include with the new Raw Material.
- Unit of Measure: Assign the appropriate Unit to the new Raw Material. This must be established based on how the Material is consumed, not how it’s purchased.

- Fermentables must be measured in either Pounds or Gallons to ensure accurate Federal Reporting in Production Part VI.
- If users have trouble determining how a Material is consumed vs purchased, use our Misc Conversion Calculator for easy Unit of Measure converting.
- TTB Material Kind: Use this only if you are setting up Fermentable Raw Material Class. Select the Column/Row of Production Part VI this Material should report within.
- Write-In Lines are available in each Fermentable Category. If established, users will see their own Custom Fermentable Categories in the blank Write-In Lines below (7 & 8), for example.
